‘Eagle Stadium’ comprehensively redeveloped and expanded the existing sporting facility into a new major regional indoor sports venue in Melbourne’s western suburbs, claiming a new benchmark in community sports facilities.
All works were staged to ensure minimal disruption to the ongoing community use. The facility provides 16 sports courts, 1,100m2 fitness centre, occasional care, community meeting rooms, several operating zones for flexible scheduling, as well as functioning as a social hub for the community with Café and indoor and outdoor social gathering areas.
The building and surrounding site integrate several ESD principles and initiatives throughout the design, including drainage swales in the “green carpark”, rainwater harvesting, natural ventilation, solar hot water system and a high quality thermal envelope. The centre provides the best standards for community sports and fitness training to all members of the expanding Wyndham community and surrounding region.
